Respect for All
Persons
As I contemplate on the issue at hand and recognizing that
we as human being are born with free will.
With free will comes flaws in many forms of discrimination, social
grouping or classification that forms hierarchy not only intellectually but
monetarily. The media has played
significant role by devaluing ordinary society and exchanging it with glamour
and ritzy world of show biz.
As I read page 265 “Respect for all Persons” second
paragraph textbook it almost brought me to tears because as Americans we are
losing our humanity. (Hill 2000:64) We
judge people on what type of car they drive and how well they speak but when it
comes to their moral judgments or lack thereof we dismiss and think of excuses
to justify their reasoning.
There are other thing to worry about in this world other than
Justin Bieber baby drama. We still have
children going to sleep hungry it night because there is no food in the table. But that story you don’t hear about in the
news. You don’t hear about the war that
still going on in Afghanistan and the brave soldier that are risking their
lives for us. Before I go to sleep tonight I'm going to pray and ask god to help solve the issues we have going on this country in regard to humanity.

Interesting post, Joel, and you made a very good point that I would like to comment on. I agree with you when you said that we as Americans are losing our humanity; however, I would also like to point out that this is not just a problem with Americans. The reason I say this is because people in other countries are also known for using and taking advantage of some their own people as a means to accomplish their personal objectives. You made another good point about when you said that their are other things to worry other than Justin Bieber, because some people are without food to eat. This is also a very good point, but this is not new because people in other countries have been known to be with out good food for years. However, if we really care and want to make a change we can do own part by donating something from right here; we can sponsor a a child, or donate money to a charity organization.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you to a point but I will add this for thought. When I first retired from the Navy I thought WOW how crazy is America with all these problems and the younger generation not helping out. I then had the thought that I was surrounded by people that cared about others everyday for more than 20 years when I was in the service. My point is I think America has always been this way but we military and family members forget about that part while we serve. I'm not saying all of America is like that but it is a side of her that we are not accustomed too!
